Bill C-11 and the proposed Consumer Privacy Protection Act – Main impacts on the insurance sector

The changes proposed by Bill C-11 and the CPPA will significantly impact the insurance sector. Insurance companies rely on data modelling—the process of creating a data model to identify relevant data such as to assess risk, as well as how to act upon it—to provide insurance coverage. C-11 introduces three new concepts in Canadian privacy law that may be of particular relevance to data modelling.  Our latest insight discusses these changes, what companies can expect and how the industry will fair with this new regulatory framework.
